The decomposed body of a 70-year-old woman, identified as Shikha Mukhopadhyay, was discovered inside a closed house in Bowbazar. Concerned neighbors have alleged that the woman's son may have been involved in her death, claiming that he physically abused her. Shikha Mukhopadhyay had been residing in the house on Madan Dutta Lane in Bowbazar with her son. Neighbors grew concerned when they had not seen Shikhadevi outside her home for several days and detected a foul odor emanating from the house. On Monday, they alerted the Mochipada police station, prompting the police to visit the scene.

The authorities recovered Shikhadevi's decomposed body from inside the house and have sent it for post-mortem examination. The exact cause of death will only be determined after the post-mortem report is received, according to police sources.
